THE END FOR THE PRIORY VALE EXPRESS
09 February 2010
Thamesdown Transport have announced that Service 12 - the 'Priory Vale Express' - which covers the route between Fleming Way and Oakhurst, will be withdrawn after operation on Friday 19th February.
Service 12 was an express service introduced after the Groundwell Park & Ride was mothballed in June 2009. It took in Groundwell West, St Andrew’s Ridge, Abbey Meads and Redhouse.
Thamesdown Transport MD Paul Jenkins said the company was disappointed to have to withdraw the service, but that lack of take up meant it was no longer viable.
“I would like to thank those passengers who have been using it for supporting this new venture,” said Paul. “But unfortunately, while a couple of the morning journeys have been carrying reasonable numbers, overall the service is losing money and we are no longer able to carry on with it.
“I very much hope that passengers who have been using Service 12 will continue to travel with us on our other services to and from North Swindon.”
For details of alternative routes, passengers should go to the home page of www.thamesdown-transport.co.uk where the Traveline journey planner can help identify the most appropriate service.
Timetables for all services are also available from the Thamesdown Travel Shop on Fleming Way. Passengers with timetable enquiries should ring Traveline on 0871 200 2233.
