GROUP'S NEW CHIEF SCOUTS
08 February 2010
Four years of fun, laughter and just a little bit of hard work, has resulted in five members of the Scout Troop being awarded their Gold Chief Scout’s Award – the highest award available in the Scout Section. To complete the Award, members had to demonstrate community, faith, self-motivation, personal discipline and many other qualities as well as joining in activities organised by the troop, district or county. They also had to participate in training courses. Camping and hiking were very popular but activities also included shooting, conservation work at Seven Fields Nature Reserve and learning survival skills. The members also attended the WINGS International Scout camp at Windsor last summer. In addition seven members of the Beaver Colony gained their Bronze Chief Scout’s Award. In order to this gain this award, the highest award available in the Beaver section, they had to earn all six challenge badges (Creative, Fitness, Friendship, Global, Outdoor and Promise). Kelvin King, Group Scout Leader said, 'The members have worked really hard for these awards taking part in many different activities'. All the awards were presented recently at a Group Camp Fire evening.
